J Paul Dunne is Professor of Economics in the School of Economics, University of Cape Town and Emeritus Professor of Economics at the University of the West of England, where he held a chair 2002-11. He has worked at the British University in Egypt, Middlesex University, Birkbeck College, Warwick University, Department of Applied Economics and Magdalene College, University of Cambridge and the University of Leeds. He is also a research associate of the South African Labour and Development Research Unit (SALDRU) in the School of Economics, University of Cape Town.
Research: An applied economist whose main area of research is the economics of peace, security and military spending, he has published widely in the area. He is a Fellow of Economists for Peace and Security (EPS), and edits the Economics of Peace and Security Journal with Jurgen Brauer.
