Biography

Jacques Fontanel is Professor Emeritus of economics at the University Pierre-Mendes-France in Grenoble (France). He holds a Ph.D in economics (Université Paris IX and Université Grenoble). He is also Doctor Honoris Causa of the University of Economics in St. Petersburg.

Former Vice President in charge of International Relations at the University Pierre-Mendes-France and former Director of the Faculty of Economics, he also chaired Espace Europe that was for many years a leading multidisciplinary research Institute in Grenoble.

He is a lecturer at ILERI (Paris) and Grenoble School of Management. He is also an editor for the Annuaire Français des Relations Internationales and a contributor to Questions Internationales.

He has published several articles and books on defense economics, globalization, security issues and sports economics.
